Improving Representability of Top-of-Froth Velocity Measurements

Introduction:
Top of froth velocity is an important metric for flotation monitoring and control. Computer vision approaches to estimate froth velocity from froth images are common: for example, a recent review by Aldrich et al., (2022) cites eight commercial suppliers of froth velocity solutions, and at least twenty academic papers on the same topic published in the last ten years with computer vision approaches proving commercial success in several industrial applications, e.g., for recognizing plant operating conditions (Cipriano et al., 1998); and for advanced process control (Brooks and Munalula, 2017).
